After the physical exertion of the Colourama event back in June, the ladies of Swinburne Maddison decided to show our support for St Cuthbert’s Hospice in a more sedate fashion on Thursday 26th November by hosting a private pamper evening right here in the office.
A range of treatments were on offer – including massages, threading and nail-painting – all delivered by eight fabulous beauty therapy students from New College Durham who, along with their course supervisors, very kindly volunteered their time and expertise for this excellent cause. Rather than paying New College Durham for their treatments, staff members simply made a donation to St Cuthbert’s’ Hospice, based on what they could afford and what they thought the treatment was worth. Judging by the grand total raised on the night – which came in just over £500 – there were a lot of happy customers!
Alongside the beauty treatments, staff were treated to a glass of bucks fizz on arrival and everyone contributed to the wide selection of home-baked cakes and savoury treats which were laid out for everyone to enjoy. The evening was topped off by a raffle draw, with prizes contributed by staff members and local businesses and charities, including Vardy Property Group, Safe Families for Children, New College Durham, Marks and Spencer and Swinburne Maddison itself.
All in all, a tremendous success and a very relaxing way to raise money for a local charity close to all of our hearts.
Special thanks to the girls at New College Durham - their professionalism and skill were greatly appreciated by all in attendance.
