Local entrepreneur and business angel, Chris Gilman, recently made a significant investment in a Darlington artisan bakery business.

Since opening in 2010, The Clervaux Artisan Bakery & Cafe has established itself as the town’s premier bakery, cafe and coffee shop where quality organic bread is proudly baked on the premises. Chris's investment funds will be used by the company to forge ahead with opening a second Clervaux bakery, on Northallerton high street. The company also has plans to open further bakeries throughout the North East.

Corporate experts at law firm Swinburne Maddison LLP, which has acted for Chris on a previous occasion, advised throughout the investment process.

Speaking on the deal, corporate solicitor Alex Wilby said, "Our Firm has a strong relationship with Chris and we were delighted to be invited to act on his behalf, again. There are unique considerations when a client is looking to invest in an established trading company. The corporate team was pleased to assist Chris through the process and reach a great outcome for both parties. We wish Chris and the bakery every success.”
