Swinburne Maddison LLP has been appointed to act on behalf of the University of Law to facilitate an expansion of one of its eight centres.
The university appointed the firm to prepare both a deed of surrender for an existing lease and to draw up a new lease on additional accommodation for its Manchester centre.
Speaking about the deal, head of Swinburne Maddison’s commercial property team and partner Victoria Walton (pictured) said, "I am delighted that such a highly regarded educational institution chose to appoint Swinburne Maddison to act on its behalf."
"Many solicitors I know trained there, including a number of our partners. On this occasion, because the upper floor was occupied by a gym, the deal to take over that floor hinged on gaining change of use for education purposes."
"Having satisfied that point we were able to deal with the other issues of lease surrender and drawing up a new 15-year lease."
The University of Law ranked joint second university in the UK in the 2014 National Student Survey, with a student satisfaction level of 92 per cent.
