Swinburne Maddison LLP has further strengthened its relationship with Durham University after collaborating on two recent projects.
Alex Wilby, a corporate lawyer in the firm’s education team, worked with the University in connection with the Durham Award - a mark of excellence awarded to those University students who have demonstrated a strong degree of reflection on their skills learned and developed while at University, such as leadership, teamwork and communications, along with demonstrating commercial awareness.
As well as providing assistance with the Durham Award, Swinburne Maddison has also assisted the University by attending the Discovery Fair - a careers-based event where students were invited to drop-in to meet with professionals from a range of industry sectors, who were on hand to answer their questions about career opportunities.
Speaking of the relationship between the firm and the University, Alex said, "Swinburne Maddison and Durham University have a strong working relationship which goes back many years. We were very happy to help with both the Durham Award and the Discovery Fair event.”
Helen Griffiths, an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and one of the firm’s attendees at the Discovery Fair, was impressed by the students adding, “The ability, know-how and commercial awareness of the students we had contact with really stood out.”
Laura Forsyth, Employability Development Manager at Durham University commented,“We would like to extend our thanks to Swinburne Maddison for providing us with their kind assistance. It’s invaluable for us to be able to validate the Award with a strong employer presence, and for both the University and our students to be able to call upon the experience of professionals from established, successful firms such as Swinburne Maddison. We look forward to working with the team again in the future.”
