Corporate Departmental Assistant Vacancy


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time assistant to join our growing Corporate and Commercial team at our office in Aykley Heads, Durham.

As a Corporate Departmental Assistant, you will provide direct support to our team of lawyers to allow them to operate at optimum efficiency. 



This will include, but will not be limited to, the main responsibilities given below:

  • prepare correspondence and documents through audio-typing and word processing;
  • administering filing, including the opening, closing and maintenance of active client files;
  • making appointments and arranging meetings for the Corporate and Commercial Team members, including any relevant travel arrangements. The role will also require maintenance of the diaries for the team members;
  • prepare conference rooms for meetings as necessary, including the provision of refreshments etc; and
  • attend clients in person and on the telephone.


Required experience, skills and attributes

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A high degree of self-management and initiative
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other IT packages
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet conflicting deadlines
  • Proven experience in managing high volume work to ensure correspondence is actioned within appropriate timescales
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting the department

The ideal candidate will have existing legal experience, but it is not essential.
