From the 1st of May 2024, family court fees will rise by 10%. The Ministry of Justice has stated that “implementing increases to Court & Tribunal fees is vital to our ongoing work to protect access to the Courts for all those who seek justice”.
Court fees have not increased since 2021 and the Government has stated that changes to Court fees will ensure that the Courts can keep pace with increased costs as well as improve services and reduce costs for the taxpayer. The increase will generate an increased income of between £34m – £42m a year.
As such fees will increase as per the below:-
- Child Arrangement Orders will increase from £232 to £255.
- Financial Order Application, not by consent, will increase from £275 to £303.
- Financial Consent Order will increase from £53 to £58.
- Applications within proceedings will increase from £167 to £184.
- Application for Adoption/Permission to apply for Adoption will increase from £183 to £201.
Please note that the fee for Divorce/Civil Partnership Dissolution will remain the same at £593.
In light of the above, if you are considering making an application to the Court, it would be prudent to pursue this application before the fee increase.
