Question 1: Where did you study law and why did you want to become a lawyer?
I completed my studies at Newcastle University, which I loved. I had always been interested in becoming a lawyer as I wanted a career which would challenge me and would ultimately be very rewarding. And it certainly is!
Question 2: Why did you want to specialise in Private Client law?
It was the personal side to Private Client law which appealed to me when choosing what to specialise in. I consider it a great privilege to work closely with our clients, getting to know them and their families and assisting them in sometimes very difficult times. I also enjoy the variety of the work. We cover the whole spectrum of Private Client services at Swinburne Maddison which means being able to switch my attention between relatively straightforward Will drafting and much more complex matters, such as the administration of high value Trusts or inheritance tax planning.
Question 3: What has been your greatest achievement at Swinburne Maddison?
This is easy – winning the Private Client Team of the Year at the Northern Law Awards 2018! To be singled out from some of the best teams in the region and recognised by the judges for what we do and how we do it was just fantastic. It provided the whole team with a huge sense of achievement. I am so proud to work alongside some of the most hardworking and compassionate lawyers in the region.
