Leading leisure operator and longstanding client, John Adamson of Beyond Leisure, an established leisure operator and outside catering company,  recently launched his latest venture in Newcastle city centre, with the help of Swinburne Maddison’s commercial property team.

Based on a 1920s style speakeasy bar, where Prosecco is quirkily served from teapots, Colonel Porter’s or to give it its full name, Colonel Porter’s Tavern, Botanical Garden and Rhum Bar, is situated in Milburn House on the corner of Dean Street at the centre of Newcastle’s bustling nightlife.

This latest venture represents a £500,000 investment by Mr Adamson, whose other businesses interests include Ramside Hall, Hardwick Hall and Bowburn Hall Hotels, The Lancastrian Suite and Beyond Bar, as well as Ramside Event Catering.

The venue takes its name from Colonel J Porter, the creator of Newcastle Brown Ale, the world- famous ale which was once brewed in Newcastle.

John Davison, Managing Partner, said:

“We are delighted to have had the further opportunity to work on behalf of John, on another high quality venue and the ongoing expansion of his business portfolio.  In his usual way, John has made a significant investment in the venue in order to bring something a little bit different to Newcastle’s leisure scene.

“We wish him every success with Colonel Porter’s and look forward to continuing to work on his behalf advising him on a range of property matters.”
