Corporate and Commercial
Craig Feeney is a solicitor in the Corporate and Commercial team, advising businesses on a broad range of transactional and advisory matters. He qualified in 2023 and has built a strong expertise across banking, commercial and corporate -related work before joining Swinburne Maddison.
Craig obtained his LLB from the University of Sunderland, before completing an LLM in Advanced Legal Practice and joint LPC. Prior to qualification, he spent four years at a global law firm, based in the firm’s Newcastle Hub, where he worked as a paralegal across several practice areas including Banking & Finance, Corporate, Cyber Response and Dispute Resolution. During his time there, Craig progressed into senior and supervisory roles and was promoted to lead within the Newcastle Cyber Response team, working closely with colleagues in London (and other offices globally) to coordinate client incident responses to assist with compliance on tight reporting timescales.

In his day‑to‑day work at Swinburne Maddison, Craig focuses on M&A transactions, where he regularly negotiates key transaction documents and leads legal due diligence and disclosure workstreams. He also advises on banking and finance matters, working with funders and their clients to ensure funding requirements are satisfied and transactions proceed smoothly. He has experience acting across a variety of sectors, with particular exposure to technology and healthcare businesses.
Client care is at the heart of Craig’s approach. He is known for providing clear, practical advice that balances legal risk with clients’ commercial objectives, ensuring they feel supported and informed throughout the transaction process. Craig is particularly keen to work with regional businesses and funders, supporting SMEs that are securing investment to grow and expand through strategic acquisitions. He also has a strong interest in developing his banking and finance practice, including advising on private equity funding structures.
